About The Position

Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for a dependable and service-minded Cook to join our culinary team at Hillcrest Health & Rehab in Bellevue, NE. Hillcrest Health & Rehab is Bellevue’s only skilled nursing facility, providing short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and post-acute services in a supportive, resident-centered environment. Our culinary team plays an important role in creating meals that are nutritious, appealing, and prepared with care for residents, guests, and patients. As a Cook, you will help create a positive dining experience by preparing meals that support comfort, wellness, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive sitting, bending, standing, walking, reaching, and movement as needed.
  • Must be flexible, calm, and professional in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to utilize technology, kitchen equipment, and culinary resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be willing to work varied days, evening shifts, and assist in other culinary areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of hotel, restaurant line cooking, healthcare, senior living, or similar cooking experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes, menus, diet orders, and production needs.
  • Comfort preparing meals for a variety of dietary needs and modified textures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting the broader culinary team.
  • A flexible, team-first attitude and willingness to assist where needed.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and service-focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous culinary, food service, restaurant, hotel, healthcare, or senior living experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious, appetizing, and colorful meals while following food safety, sanitation, cleaning, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare foods using a variety of cooking styles, including à la carte and quantity food preparation.
  • Prepare mechanically altered and therapeutically modified food items according to physician orders and care needs.
  • Follow HACCP cooking procedures with a strong focus on infection control and food safety.
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation throughout the kitchen and assigned work areas.
  • Clean kitchen equipment according to established cleaning procedures.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures and secure culinary areas as required.
  • Complete daily documentation for dry, refrigerated, and frozen food storage areas.
  • Follow required documentation standards in alignment with State of Nebraska regulations.
  • Properly organize food storage areas and support safe food handling practices.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely and appropriately in accordance with MSDS, OSHA, and state requirements.
  • Assist with additional culinary functions as needed.
  • Support a positive, respectful, and service-focused dining experience for residents, guests, and team members.
