This role involves preparing, assembling, and cooking baked goods, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors according to menu and dietary requirements. The cook adheres to food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation, and performs cleaning duties to ensure a sanitary environment. They are responsible for the proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery, preparing and serving the highest quality and safest food possible. This position requires strong communication and teamwork skills to work with many internal customers and the ability to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment. The cook follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines for food preparation, storage, and use, documenting critical steps and temperatures to ensure food safety. They operate various kitchen equipment and possess an understanding of food safety, sanitation processes, basic math for measurements, and the ability to read and understand recipes. The role requires the ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk significant distances within the hospital.
