About The Position

Aspira Stonebridge Crossing Retirement Living is seeking a Cook for a Casual (On-Call) position. This role involves preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents, understanding their dietary needs and preferences, and contributing to enjoyable dining experiences. The Cook will be a valued team member in a fast-paced environment, making a meaningful difference in residents' lives and supporting the home's culture of helping residents live fully every day.

Requirements

Hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
Understanding of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
Grade 12 minimum education required.
A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit.
Must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks.
Gain an understanding of residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and cultural considerations.
Contribute to creating enjoyable dining experiences that support residents’ health and well-being.
Monitor the quality of food supplies received and advise the team leader of problems and recommendations.
In the absence of the team leader, assume responsibility for departmental operations, including menu changes, requisitions, and purchases from authorized suppliers.
