This role involves preparing, assembling, baking, cooking, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors, adhering to menu and dietary requirements. The cook will maintain food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation, and perform washing and cleaning duties to ensure cleanliness in cooking and serving areas. Responsibilities also include maintaining proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery, and preparing the highest quality and safest food possible. The position requires strong communication and teamwork skills to work with internal customers in a dynamic culinary environment. Adherence to standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines is essential for food preparation, storage, and use, with documentation of HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes. The cook will operate various kitchen equipment and must possess an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes, basic math skills for measurement, and the ability to read and understand recipes. The role requires the ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk significant distances within the hospital.
