Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services or Dietary Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees. This role involves preparing meals according to menus and production sheets, ensuring proper food handling techniques, and completing daily temperature audits. The Cook will also prepare and serve therapeutic/specialty diets, make necessary menu substitutions, and adhere to service time schedules. The position requires working within a set budget, complying with provincial/municipal regulations and dietary department policies, and participating in special occasion and theme meal days. The Cook is expected to attend staff meetings and training sessions, be aware of Resident Rights & Responsibilities, participate in the Quality Improvement Program, and comply with health and safety legislation. This is a position of trust with vulnerable adults, and the Cook must uphold the organization's values and philosophy.
