About The Position

Aspira Hunter Village Retirement Living is seeking a Cook for a temporary full-time position. This role involves preparing meals and snacks according to established guidelines, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining food quality. The Cook will also assist with training new team members and may assume departmental responsibilities in the absence of a team leader. Requirements

Grade 12 minimum education required
A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province

Nice To Haves

Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify

Responsibilities

Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
Performing other duties as assigned
