About The Position

McKay Creek is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare and serve meals to residents. This role is crucial in ensuring residents receive nutritious and safe meals while maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. The Cook will work closely with the team to meet dietary needs and provide excellent service.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid Oregon Food Handler’s Card.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to follow recipes, dietary guidelines, and resident meal preferences.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and compassionate toward older adults.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in cooking or food service, especially in senior care or healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals in accordance with menus, special diets, and food safety standards.
  • Assist in food prep, portioning, and plating during meal service.
  • Set up, serve, and clear resident dining areas.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary food prep, serving, and storage areas.
  • Follow dietary orders and food texture modifications (e.g., diabetic, mechanical soft, pureed).
  • Monitor kitchen inventory and communicate needs to supervisor.
  • Ensure timely meal delivery and provide courteous, respectful service to residents.
