About The Position

This is a Term to Perm position for a Hospital Cook. The pay rate is $17 - $18 an hour. The candidate must have experience, knowledge of short orders, and be able to assist in the kitchen with meal prepping and cooking breakfast and lunch. Experience in a high-volume hospital setting is required, and this experience must be reflected on the resume. The cooks will maintain clean food stations to ensure food safety standards, prepare foods according to standardized recipes and production methods, and ensure high quality using safe, sanitary food handling techniques during preparation, service, and storage. They will monitor food and equipment to maintain proper temperature, wrap, label, and date food products before storage and/or transportation, and prepare and cook foods following precise recipes designed to provide high-quality nutritional meals, including options for special dietary restrictions. The cooks must also keep the kitchen organized and running efficiently.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Work well under pressure and maintain a professional friendly attitude.
  • Must be able to work morning and night shifts.
  • Able to speak, read and write English.
  • Must know how to prepare and read recipes.
  • Reliable Transportation.
  • Neat Appearance.
  • Willing to go the extra mile to get things done.
  • Trusted to work unsupervised and put out quality results.
  • Know Basic cooking techniques (Braise, Sauté, Sear, Poach, Grill, Steam), culinary knowledge.
  • Know basic Kitchen skills (take temperatures of food, work ovens, work basic kitchen equipment).
  • Basic Knife skills.
  • Sanitation Skills.
  • Hand washing skills.
  • Clean Criminal Background.
  • Drug Screening administered.
  • Attendance and punctuality are mandatory.
  • Fine hand manipulation.
  • Bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, prolonged standing and/or walking.
