About The Position

The Cook prepares and cooks a variety of food items for service while meeting the Chef’s and guests’ specifications. The role includes preparing ingredients, operating standard kitchen equipment, maintaining food quality and safety, and keeping workstations and equipment clean and sanitary. Cooks provide guest service consistent with Lowes Foods’ Purpose, Priorities, and Service Standards. Previous food preparation experience is helpful but not required.

Requirements

Friendly, outgoing personality.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to read and understand information and directions.
Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Previous food preparation experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies.
Prepare food for service, including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces.
Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, dairy, and other food items using kitchen tools and equipment.
Process prepared foods for service using standard kitchen equipment.
Cook each item to the Chef’s and guest’s specifications.
Garnish dishes properly.
Follow instructions from the Head Chef, Lowes Foods manuals, and documentation.
Maintain clean and sanitary workstations, tables, shelves, cooking equipment, preparation equipment, and storage equipment during and after service.
Stock inventory according to established standards and systems.
Ensure food is served simultaneously, at high quality, and in a timely manner.
Take responsibility for the quality, food safety, sanitation, and timeliness of products served.
Maintain department safety and sanitation according to Lowes Foods standards.
Provide guest service consistent with Lowes Foods’ Purpose, Priorities, and Service Standards.
Ensure products for sale meet Lowes Foods standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
