Reporting to the Nutrition Manager, the Cook is responsible for the preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests, and employees. This role involves reviewing menus, preparing meals attractively, ensuring proper food handling techniques, and completing daily temperature audits. The Cook will also prepare and serve therapeutic/specialty diets, make necessary menu substitutions, and adhere to service schedules. The position requires following daily production charts, standardized recipes, and daily composite menus while working within a set budget and complying with all provincial/municipal regulations and dietary department policies. The Cook will actively participate in planning special occasion and theme meal days, attend department meetings and training sessions, and be aware of Resident Rights & Responsibilities. Participation in the Quality Improvement Program and adherence to health and safety legislation and safe job procedures are also key aspects of this role. The position involves working in a position of trust with vulnerable adults and upholding the organization's values and philosophy.
