About The Position

The Cook at Southern Utah Veterans Home is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established recipes, dietary guidelines, and quality standards. This role ensures that all food is prepared safely, efficiently, and with attention to taste and presentation to provide a positive dining experience for our veterans and staff.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous cooking experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
  • Assist with inventory management and notify supervisors of supply needs.
  • Collaborate with dietary staff to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries.
  • Adhere to all Southern Utah Veterans Home policies and procedures.
