About The Position

This position involves preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality meals as part of a culinary team in a fast-paced environment. The role requires promoting superior guest service, maintaining a positive organizational culture, and executing cooking duties efficiently. The cook will also be responsible for preparing the kitchen, assisting with ingredient preparation, monitoring stock, cleaning equipment, and coordinating with other kitchen staff.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Proper knowledge of kitchen tools and utensils is required in order to perform the specific tasks and requirements.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and possess good learning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – the kitchen’s staff works mainly under pressure, so conveying the message clearly, concise and in a polite manner is essential for good collaboration and strong overall results.
  • Great endurance as most of the prep cook work is done standing, repeatedly moving arms and hands, and lifting and carrying at least 40 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid food handlers license.
  • Must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary school certificate.
  • One (1) year experience as a line cook in a high-volume restaurant.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes superior guest service.

  • Consistently demonstrates collaborative, relationship building, welcoming and mutually respectful behaviors.
  • Quick and quality execution of cooking duties.
  • Prepares the kitchen for the arrival of the chefs.
  • Assists as necessary with the preparing of ingredients beforehand, cleaning foodstuffs, chopping, slicing, portioning.
  • Monitor stock of the kitchen.
  • Report to head chef as stock runs low.
  • Clean all kitchen equipment before and after use.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen.
  • Cooks dishes under the supervision of the chef.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Starting wage of $19.00 per hour. Candidates with relevant experience may be placed higher within the established pay range.
