About The Position
The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to prepare high-quality meals for our employees, physicians, patients, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food preparation, committed to food safety, and dedicated to providing excellent service in a healthcare environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One or more years of cooking experience in a restaurant, healthcare, cafeteria, or institutional setting preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
- Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation standards are met.
- Monitor and document food temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Complete production records, temperature logs, and waste logs.
- Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing food and supplies.
- Maintain proper food rotation and storage procedures.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas and equipment.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and supply needs to management.
- Follow all federal, state, local, and hospital food safety regulations.
- Assist with special events, catering functions, and departmental projects as needed.
