About The Position

Newton Child Development Center is seeking a dependable part-time cook to prepare simple, nutritious breakfast and lunch for children from infancy through age 5. The role follows a consistent weekday daytime schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with no evenings or weekends. The location is Newton Child Development Center, 1301 Grove St., Chattanooga, TN 37402. Starting pay is $12.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
• Dependability and reliable transportation.
• Must pass a stringent fingerprint background check required for employment in a licensed childcare setting.

Nice To Haves

• Previous food preparation or cooking experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast and lunch according to approved menus and recipes.
• Follow portion sizes and USDA nutrition program guidelines.
• Safely operate standard kitchen equipment.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, and utensils.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
• Order food and kitchen supplies as needed.
• Assist with other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Site Director.
