About The Position

Under general direction, the Cook implements menus, coordinates food preparation, and serves meals. This PRN role supports Sierra Tucson’s behavioral health team by preparing meals and helping create a welcoming, supportive dining experience. The position is based at the Sierra Tucson campus north of Tucson, Arizona.

The Cook prepares food according to approved menus; directs workers assisting with meal preparation and service; and cleans and inspects equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas. The role also includes inventorying supplies and equipment, coordinating with Food Service leadership or a Dietitian to support varied, nutritionally balanced, appetizing menus, and coordinating food production, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control. The Cook ensures work complies with established policies, procedures, quality standards, cost parameters, and applicable regulatory requirements. Other functions and tasks may be assigned.

Requirements

• ServSafe Certification or a similar food safety certification, where required by the state or facility.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Additional education or training in the culinary field preferred.
• Two or more years’ experience in a food service role preparing food for institutions such as a school, hospital, or cafeteria preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Work with Food Service leadership or a Dietitian to ensure menus are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing.
• Perform and coordinate food production, cleaning, maintenance, and inventory control activities.
• Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, quality standards, cost parameters, and appropriate regulatory requirements.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
