Requirements

  • Grade 12 minimum education required
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • Must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
  • Understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals while gaining an understanding of residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and cultural considerations.
  • Contribute to creating enjoyable dining experiences that support residents’ health and well-being.
  • Monitor quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action.
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers.
