About The Position

Join our healthcare nutrition team as a Cook and help prepare fresh, healing meals that support wellness and recovery in a calm, caring environment. This role focuses on nourishing residents with meals prepared according to healthcare dietary guidelines, ensuring safety, attractiveness, and adherence to special dietary needs. The position offers a stable, predictable schedule with weekend shifts and no late nights, within a mission-driven setting that values its cooks as key members of the healing process.

Requirements

  • Basic cooking knowledge – we’ll train the right person!
  • A strong commitment to food safety and sanitation
  • A dependable, caring attitude and good communication skills
  • Comfort working in a clinical or patient-centered setting
  • A passion for nourishing other
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must complete all Whitsons and government required training as necessary
  • ServSafe certification
  • Local food safety certification, if required in jurisdiction of employment.
  • Ability to speak and read English to understand and perform job assignments.
  • Must be proficient in recipe procedures and cooking techniques.
  • 1-year professional culinary experience required
  • Always present a positive and professional image.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to healthcare dietary guidelines
  • Ensure all food is prepared safely and attractively
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen environment
  • Collaborate with dietary and clinical staff to meet residents nutritional and medical needs
  • Follow procedures for special diets, allergies, and food restrictions
