This position is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. The Cook reports to the Dietary Supervisor and is expected to prepare tasteful meals in large quantities, follow prepared menus and portion control guides, and accurately prepare special diets and pureed foods. The role requires maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment, recording food temperatures, and ensuring sanitizer buckets are properly maintained. The Cook will also assist with serving meals, cleaning the cooking and serving areas, and reporting resident care concerns. Participation in the orientation and training of dietary staff is expected, along with ensuring cleaning schedules are followed. The Cook must also make food presentations appealing to residents and be willing to cooperate, supervise, and work under supervision.
