About The Position

Regional West Medical Center is seeking a dependable and skilled Cook to join our Food Services Team. This role plays a vital part in preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. Working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, the Cook ensures meals are prepared safely, accurately, and on time while following physician-ordered diets, dietary restrictions, and food safety standards.

Requirements

Able to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Previous cooking experience preferred, healthcare or institutional food service experience a plus.
Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including entire shifts.
Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds from floor to waist level.
Ability to work safely around kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and hot surfaces.
Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail.
Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and dietary guidelines accurately.

Responsibilities

Review production schedules, diet orders, and menu requirements.
Prepare, cook, and portion meals according to standardized recipes and therapeutic diet needs.
Maintain food quality, presentation, and temperature control.
Operate and clean a variety of kitchen equipment safely.
Ensure all food is stored, labeled, and rotated properly.
Collaborate with staff, dietitians, and other team members.
Assist with tray line operations, café service, or special events.
Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen by following strict food safety, infection control, and sanitation protocols.
Complete cleaning assignments and adhere to HACCP guidelines.
