About The Position

Powerlink is seeking a full-time Cook for its Foodservice Operations team at the Chesterfield Veterans Home in Chesterfield, Michigan. The Cook works under the supervision of the Culinary Manager and Dietary Manager and supports foodservice operations in a long-term care setting. The role involves food preparation and production, inventory control, kitchen safety and sanitation, equipment use and cleaning, food safety, following recipes, and preparing therapeutic diets and modified-texture foods and liquids. The Cook assists managers with ordering and receiving as needed, maintains a clean and safe work area, and assists dietary aides as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least two years of experience as a cook in long-term care or another healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English to communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays with flexible hours.
• Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Background in safety and sanitation compliance.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to stand for up to 10 hours a day.
• Must be local to Chesterfield, Michigan, and surrounding areas.
• Current ServSafe® certification or Food Handler certification.
