About The Position

Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill is seeking a Full-Time Cook to work 40 hours per week. The schedule includes weekdays from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm with rotating weekend coverage. This role is responsible for all aspects of food preparation, ensuring meals are palatable, appetizing, and meet dietary requirements. The Cook will also manage food waste, adhere to meal schedules, maintain equipment cleanliness, and ensure proper food safety standards are met.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • At least three (3) years experience as a chef/cook, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Safe food handling and good sanitation practices
  • Sanitation Certification from a reputable institution is required (or must be obtained within first (1st) year of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Handles and prepares food
  • Prepares food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance
  • Follows written menus and recipes
  • Understands and prepares therapeutic diets and alternate meal requests
  • Assumes responsibility for avoiding food waste
  • Responsible for meetings meal schedules
  • Uses and cleans food service equipment and work areas throughout the day; and follows all cleaning schedules as directed
  • Reads menus, reviews recipes and discusses necessary steps in meal preparation and production
  • Demonstrates proper food handling and cleaning techniques
  • Monitors and maintains accurate food and equipment temperature logs and reports variations from normal ranges to Director of Food Services
