The Cook is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. This role reports to the Dietary Supervisor and involves preparing tasteful meals in large quantities, following menus and portion control guides, and accurately preparing special diets. The Cook must maintain a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment, record food temperatures, prepare pureed foods, and assist with serving meals. Cooperation with personnel in all departments is essential, as is ensuring cleaning schedules are followed. The position also involves participating in the training of dietary staff and making food presentations appealing to residents. This role has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
