About The Position

Allegro Hyde Park is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join their culinary team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing high-quality, flavorful, and attractively presented meals for residents and guests, contributing to a positive dining experience. This role emphasizes creativity, adherence to sanitation standards, and a team-first attitude within a supportive community environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork.
  • Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety.
  • Must possess current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Must have positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • Associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in restaurant or high-volume culinary environments
  • Fluency across a variety of culinary cuisines and cooking techniques
  • Rock-solid sanitation practices (ServSafe certification required)
  • Excellent time management — because timing IS everything
  • A team-first attitude and genuine passion for feeding people well
  • Minimum one (1) year related cooking experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Some software and computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented, making each meal service an exceptional occasion.
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director (DSD) and Chef/Lead Cook.
  • Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes.
  • Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and Company policies.
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils.
  • Properly maintain all kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease.
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
