About The Position

Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Full Time Cook to join their 5-Star rated Dining Operations team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing meals and guiding dietary aides in the preparation, presentation, and distribution of meals from the professional kitchen. The Dietary department focuses on training, supporting, and developing team members, with opportunities for internal promotion. The facility has been providing compassionate care to older adults since 1943 and offers a supportive environment.

Requirements

Prior cooking experience is required; in a long-term care or senior care facility preferred.
A positive, upbeat attitude and the ability to cooperate with others in a fast-paced environment.
Strong and courteous customer service skills, to work within a diverse workforce while providing that service to our residents, family members, vendors, and coworkers.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Must be subject to a Criminal Background Check as well as a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Using your skills to freshly prepare appetizing meals for our residents.
Following all sanitary regulations as established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, to ensure that the meals are not only appealing to see and to eat but have been safely prepared.
Following our residents’ individualized meal plans by using specialized recipes to adhere to any diet restrictions and ensuring all items are present for meal service.
Operating standard kitchen equipment safety according to training and experience.
Adhering to all sanitation and food production codes.
Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils, dishware, and appliances.
