Under the direct supervision of the Food Services Director, the Cook prepares food in accordance with Resident Diet Specifications, facility procedures, and prescribed dietary and sanitary regulations. The Cook prepares palatable, presentable food for residents, patients, and retail business, following all food safety protocols and adhering to nutritional requirements as directed with menus or through a Registered Dietitian. This role strictly follows resident diet guidelines, including therapeutic diets, pureed diets, and mechanically altered diets, as well as any allergen avoidances. The Cook is responsible for following all proper cleaning/sanitation procedures and is expected to thoroughly clean and sanitize personal work areas, equipment, and supplies, completing all cleaning duties daily and per shift as assigned, posted, and requested. A love for cooking with great food presentation is essential.
