Experienced Cook – Skilled Nursing Facility
About The Position
Bear Creek Nursing & Rehab Center is seeking an experienced Cook to join our dietary team. This is not a restaurant position. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of nutrition, dietary compliance, food safety, and consistency in a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility, Rehabilitation Center, Hospital, Assisted Living Community, School, or other institutional food service setting and understands the unique responsibility that comes with preparing meals for residents with specialized dietary needs. Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of cooking experience
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Long-Term Care, Hospitals, Rehabilitation Centers, Assisted Living Communities, or Institutional Food Service
- Experience preparing meals for residents with therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions
- Knowledge of healthcare food service regulations and standards
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, physician orders, and dietary restrictions
- Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and presented according to facility standards
- Follow therapeutic diet guidelines and special meal requirements
- Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection control regulations
- Complete temperature logs, production records, and required documentation
- Assist with inventory management, food storage, and stock rotation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Work closely with the Dietary Manager and the dietary team to ensure excellent resident satisfaction
