About The Position

Aspira Credit River Retirement Living is seeking a Cook (Casual) to join their team. This role involves preparing meals and snacks according to established guidelines, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining food quality. The Cook will also be responsible for setting up equipment, monitoring supplies, and potentially overseeing departmental operations in the absence of a team leader. This position offers a rate of pay of $21.17 and includes weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 minimum education required
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
  • Must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify

Responsibilities

  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
  • Performing other duties as assigned
