About The Position

Allegro Fort Lauderdale is hiring an experienced Full-Time Cook to join our culinary team. This role offers consistent PM hours ending at 8:30pm, allowing for a work-life balance. The primary responsibility is to prepare high-quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals according to approved menus and recipes, while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. The cook will also be responsible for monitoring food quality, portion sizes, presentation, and ensuring the kitchen is clean, organized, and stocked. Collaboration with the dining team is essential for efficient meal service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of cooking experience in a hotel dining or Assisted Living setting — required
  • ServSafe certification — required
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and takes pride in culinary quality
  • Comfortable working consistent PM hours
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork.
  • Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety.
  • Must possess current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Must have positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • Adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year related cooking experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Some software and computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious, appetizing meals according to approved menus and recipes
  • Maintain top-tier food safety and ServSafe sanitation standards throughout every shift
  • Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and properly stocked
  • Collaborate with the dining team to deliver smooth, efficient meal service
  • Be a dependable, skilled presence in a large, well-run kitchen
  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion.
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director (DSD) and Chef/Lead Cook.
  • Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes.
  • Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and Company policies.
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils.
  • Properly maintain all kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease.
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Other job duties as assigned
