About The Position

Rosewood Village Greenbrier is hiring a Part-Time Cook to join our Dining Services team. This role is ideal for someone looking for a cooking job with a consistent schedule, the opportunity to serve great food, and still have their evenings at home. The Dining Services team creates meals that bring comfort, connection, and enjoyment to the residents. This is more than a cooking job; it's an opportunity to use culinary skills in an environment where residents know your name and genuinely appreciate your work. The primary responsibility of the Cook is to prepare food of the highest quality and taste for residents and guests of the Community, ensuring that the food presentation enhances the dining experience.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable, pay attention to detail, and have a sense of teamwork.
  • Must possess good time management skills and a keen awareness of safety.
  • Must possess current manager’s level food handler permit.
  • Must have positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • The Community is a drug free workplace; associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of cooking experience preferred
  • Experience in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, or commercial kitchens preferred
  • Knowledge of food preparation, food safety, and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
  • Passion for serving seniors
  • Some software and computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare delicious and attractive food that is colorful and tastefully presented making each meal service an exceptional occasion.
  • Supervise the kitchen under the direction of the Dining Services Director (DSD) and Chef/Lead Cook.
  • Prepare high quality meals consistent with local customs and tastes.
  • Consistently adhere to the standard recipes, the budgeted costs and Company policies.
  • Supervise and/or assist in the proper washing of all dishes, cookware, flatware, and utensils.
  • Properly maintain all kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor water temperatures and/or chemical compounds as appropriate to ensure the prevention of foodborne illness and the spread of communicable disease.
  • Approach residents and associates in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
