About The Position

Nutrition Management Services Company (NMSC) is seeking an experienced Cook Supervisor for a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). This is a hands-on, working supervisor position. We are looking for a strong cook who can lead the kitchen during assigned shifts while working alongside the culinary team in daily food production. The Cook Supervisor will help coordinate and prepare meals for both the community’s Health Center and Independent Living residents, ensuring food is prepared on time and meets our standards for quality, presentation, consistency, and food safety.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Lead Cook, Cook Supervisor, Sous Chef, or experienced high-volume Cook
  • Strong hands-on cooking and food production skills
  • Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and production sheets
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead a team while remaining actively involved in production
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation requirements
  • Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as required

Nice To Haves

  • Senior living, healthcare, hospital, or CCRC experience preferred
  • Experience with therapeutic diets and texture-modified foods is a plus
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on in daily food preparation and production
  • Prepare entrées, proteins, vegetables, starches, soups, sauces, and other menu items
  • Coordinate production for both Health Center and Independent Living meal service
  • Provide day-to-day direction to cooks, prep staff, and other culinary team members during assigned shifts
  • Review menus, production sheets, recipes, and daily production requirements
  • Ensure food is prepared according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards
  • Ensure Health Center meals are prepared according to prescribed therapeutic diets and texture-modified requirements
  • Monitor food quality, taste, appearance, portioning, and temperatures
  • Coordinate production timing to ensure meals are ready for tray service and dining room service
  • Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, dating, cooling, reheating, and sanitation procedures
  • Help control food waste through proper production and portion control
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen
  • Train and support culinary staff in proper cooking techniques, recipes, sanitation, and department procedures
  • Step into any production area necessary to ensure successful meal service
