About The Position

American House Senior Living Communities is seeking a Full-Time Cook/Server to join their team. This role offers a safe work environment and the opportunity to make a positive impact on residents' lives through excellent customer service and culinary experiences. The Cook position involves assisting the Culinary Director in the overall functioning of the dietary department, ensuring high-quality customer service, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, and assisting with special events. The Dining Room Server role focuses on providing excellent customer service to residents, taking orders, serving meals and beverages, setting up dining areas, and assisting with food preparation. Training is provided for servers, and opportunities exist to develop skills and relationships with residents and staff.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a Serve Safe Certification (for Assistant Cooks).
  • Minimum 16 years of age (for Dining Room Server).
  • Desire to impact others’ lives through excellent customer service (for Dining Room Server).
  • Ambition to develop relationships with our Residents (for Dining Room Server).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Seniors (for Dining Room Server).
  • Previous customer service experience (for Dining Room Server).
  • 2 – 3 years of experience of working in a commercial restaurant or club is preferred (for Dining Room Server).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Culinary Director in the overall functioning of the dietary department.
  • Ensuring the highest quality of customer service for residents.
  • Maintaining proper/hygienic food handling techniques and overall sanitation requirements of a food service area and personnel.
  • Setting up food and supplies for special events.
  • Maintaining sanitary conditions in dining room areas.
  • Overseeing the proper use of all dietary equipment.
  • Carrying out any emergency procedures required during shift.
  • Noting and reporting areas or articles in need of repair.
  • Engaging in prospective resident visits.
  • Maintaining regulatory compliance where applicable.
  • Providing residents with the highest quality of customer service.
  • Communicating, interacting with, and observing residents.
  • Taking resident orders and serving resident meals and beverages.
  • Setting up and decorating dining room tables for mealtimes.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the dining room, menus, kitchen, side-stations, and other areas as directed.
  • Assisting with the preparation of beverages, snacks, desserts, salads, and condiments for service.
  • Transporting used dishes, waste, refuse and used linen to collection areas.
  • Following and completing daily task assignments, ensuring all work is completed properly.
  • Noting refrigeration temperatures.
  • Learning and retaining residents' names, special requests, and dietary restrictions.
  • Assisting with all special events and catering functions.
  • Assisting with plating and delivery of meals to remote locations or resident's rooms if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by Culinary Director or Executive Director.
