About The Position

Huey's, a locally owned and operated restaurant with 50 years of history in the Memphis community, is seeking experienced and competent Prep Cooks. We are known for our blues, brews, burgers, excellent customer service, community outreach, and family environment. The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep. This role involves setting up workstations and ingredients according to recipes, undertaking basic cooking duties like reducing sauces and parboiling food, and preparing simple dishes such as salads and entrees.

Requirements

At least one year of cooking experience preferred
Work as part of a team
Strong organization and active listening skills
Reliable transportation
The ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 30 pounds at a time
Exceptional time management skills
Flexible scheduling availability

Responsibilities

Setting up and stocking his or her station before the start of each service.
Prepping food each day and following Huey’s recipes.
Complying with Health Department regulations and safety standards.
Serving and preparing food of the highest quality.
Working with other cooks in the kitchen to make sure that food is ready at the right time, in the right order, so that it arrives at the customer’s table ready to eat and at the right temperature.
Meeting required ticket times for appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
Cleaning his or her station and may be asked to help other cooks clean up their stations.
Communicating and cooperating with back-of-house and front-of-house co-workers.
Complying with Huey’s policies and procedures.
