About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Kitchen Manager or the direct supervision of the Cook, the Cook's Helper is responsible for the preparation of food and raw food products required for main production; assists in the preparation and distribution of food to service areas; and assists in the preparation of special diet foods. The Cook's Helper also assists in ensuring that the proper sanitation standards are met.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed a food handler course
  • One year of direct experience in the food service industry
  • Knowledge and ability to follow prepared menus and ingredient control processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and individuals in custody
  • Good decision making skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an institutional setting
  • Certification in standard First Aid & CPR
