About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Cook IV, performs a variety of tasks including measuring, combining, grinding, blending and slicing food ingredients for food and beverage preparation and production. Provides general assistance in food production and distribution.

Requirements

Grade 10 plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current Food Safe I certificate.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal effectively with others.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Ability to organize work.

Responsibilities

Prepares all salads, sandwiches, cold plates by procedures such as measuring, mixing and blending.
Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients as assigned.
Assists Cooks by measuring, combining, grinding, blending and slicing food ingredients, as directed.
Assists in vegetable and fruit preparation by washing, slicing, dicing and grating.
Removes and delivers food items from storage areas to work areas.
Packages, labels and transfers food items to freezer or refrigerator storage. Rotates food items in the freezers.
Delivers nourishments and floor supplies to nourishment kitchens on nursing units.
Cleans work areas including sinks, counter tops, machines, equipment, splash areas in accordance with established standards and procedures; sweeps and damp mops work area floor, as directed.
As indicated by the menu cards, sets up meal trays with items such as juice, milk, dessert, condiments, dishware, cutlery, napkins and portions out food and beverages on meal trays following food handling standards.
As indicated by the production sheet, loads pans of hot and cold food onto the food containers/carts, in accordance with established procedures and standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
