About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing meals for the Title VI program, meeting the special dietary needs of elderly and employees, and maintaining kitchen sanitation, health, safety, and food storage standards. The role also involves record-keeping, surveying participant food preferences, and potentially delivering meals. The Cook's Assistant works as part of a kitchen team and must pass a post-hire drug screen and background check.

Requirements

Requires a physical examination
No less than six (6) months experience in kitchen related work
Must have valid driver’s license
Must submit to an employment drug screen and background check (post hire)

Responsibilities

Prepares meals for Title VI program
Prepares menus in advance to meet the special dietary needs of elderly and employees
Prepares food supply lists for Program Director to order (raw food, kitchen supplies, utensils, kitchen staples)
Responsible for all related kitchen duties and practices (sanitation, health, safety, food storage)
Performs temperature checks daily on food served, refrigerators, and freezers
Responsible for specific cleaning duties
Record keeping of daily meal count, daily sign-in meal sheet, and daily count of units of service
Periodically surveys food likes and dislikes from participants
May deliver meals when needed to fill in for one of the transporters
Works as a team in the kitchen with the assistant cook
