About The Position

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. JOB SUMMARY: The cook is responsible for preparing / cooking meals and other food requests based on a specific menu on a timely basis, and within a required volume, to meet the food needs of the residents and staff. Responsible for promptly cleaning and organizing the work areas to maintain a required health statutes of the facility. This is a PD position (As needed).

Requirements

  • High school graduation preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience cooking in a large institutional or healthcare/hospital kitchen setting.
  • Psychiatric health care facility, is preferred.
  • Food Handlers Permit /ServSafe certificate required.
  • Proficiency in chopping, slicing, dicing, and mincing ingredients efficiently and safely.
  • Mastery of various cooking techniques such as sautéing, boiling, grilling, roasting, and braising.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage kitchen operations effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to follow specific dietary requirements and recipes accurately.
  • Experience working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexible to cater to changing menus and dietary needs of patients.
  • Providing exceptional service to patients, staff, and guests.
  • Observing and promoting safety in the workplace, including adherence to sanitary procedures for handling, cooking, and serving food.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing / cooking meals and other food requests based on a specific menu on a timely basis, and within a required volume, to meet the food needs of the residents and staff.
  • Promptly cleaning and organizing the work areas to maintain a required health statutes of the facility.
  • Assisting with counting food inventory monthly and maintaining kitchen equipment.
