Directly supervises cooks and assistant cooks during assigned periods. Responsible for preparation and coordination of all Center meals within established budget allowances and in accordance with preplanned menus that are in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Food service training or four (4) years related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s certificate with 30 days of employment.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.

  • Previous experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide alternate shift supervision of cafeteria services including cooks and assistant cooks.
  • Coordinate and prepare quantity of food required according to the menu and number of students.
  • Assist in instructing cooks and assistant cooks in the safe, hygienic methods of preparing appetizing, eye-appealing meals.
  • Ensure minimum waste through efficient storage, inventory, and food utilization.
  • Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
  • Assist in supervising work support and culinary arts students assigned to the cafeteria.
  • Help maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area and all other areas of the cafeteria are safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
  • Assist in replenishing stock room supplies and commodities as needed.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property. Adhere to standard safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain a Center climate which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students in which to work and learn.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Having the ability to work under pressure as well as ensuring timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • The proper use of tools and/or equipment commonly used in an office/clerical environment.
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and company directives.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
  • Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
