About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Parks is seeking a motivated culinary professional with a passion for preparing quality food and delivering exceptional guest service as our new Cook II for the Rowena Landing Restaurant at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park. Located on beautiful Lake Cumberland, this resort park is one of the premier lodging and dining facilities in the area. For decades, we have served guests in our 200-seat restaurant featuring panoramic views of Lake Cumberland. In this position, you will prepare a variety of menu items, assist with kitchen operations, and help maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and guest service. You will work closely with chefs, food-service management, front-of-house employees, group sales, and other departments to provide exceptional dining experiences throughout the year. Requirements

Two years of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.
Vocational training in food services will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Plans, prepares, and coordinates daily cooking, kitchen-cleanup, and sanitation duties.
Performs and leads food preparation, including baking, roasting, broiling, and frying meats, fish, poultry, and other menu items.
Prepares specialty dishes, made-to-order menu items, banquet meals, and buffet selections.
Assists Food Service Operations Managers and chefs with maintaining records of food used and supplies on hand.
Assists with receiving goods, monitoring inventory, and calculating food costs.
Performs and leads kitchen-cleaning and sanitation duties while following safe food-handling and preparation practices.
Ensures kitchen equipment and utensils are maintained in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
Performs other duties as assigned.
