About The Position

Prepare and cook meals for patients. Support Food and EVS Manager with daily production tasks. This role involves preparing meals according to specific counts and recipes, assisting with food preparation for subsequent days, stocking, and organizing supplies. The Cook II is also responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control, ensuring kitchen cleanliness and adherence to safety and infection control protocols. Additionally, this position supports the kitchen supervisor in managing food costs, training new employees, participating in food ordering and inventory, and maintaining accurate records such as temperature logs, HACCP logs, cleaning logs, and prep sheets. The role also requires participation in all facility-required Safety, Risk Management, and Infection Control practices.

Requirements

  • Culinary arts certification or two (2) years of line cooking experience in a healthcare or restaurant setting
  • Minimum one (1) year of line cooking experience
  • Active WA State Food Handler Card
  • Prior experience using cleaning products, chemicals, and/or equipment
  • Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to use various software programs
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check (Federal and state)
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends & holidays as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and judgement with sensitive and confidential matters, including PII, PHI, and HIPAA requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of staff, visitors, healthcare professionals, marketers, and the public in a professional, sensitive, and interpersonal manner

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for patients according to meal counts and recipes; ensure accuracy and attention to detail
  • Assist with food preparation, including prepping for the following day, stocking kitchen areas, and organizing supplies
  • Provide coverage for callouts and support catering production and setup as needed
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Ensure kitchen areas are clean, sanitized, and organized, adhering to safety and infection control protocols
  • Support the kitchen supervisor in achieving food cost goals and assist with training new employees
  • Participate in food ordering, inventory management, and restocking of kitchen and dining areas
  • Maintain accurate records, including temperature logs, HACCP logs, cleaning logs and prep sheets
  • Observe and participate in all facility-required Safety, Risk Management, and Infection Control practices
  • Support and maintain policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and client confidentiality; monitor documents according to company and HIPAA policies.
  • Report any immediate safety hazards to appropriate supervisory personnel or maintenance personnel.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required THIRA meetings, trainings, and all other coverage, duties, and special projects as assigned
