About The Position

We're looking for a kitchen-savvy team member with basic culinary knowledge and a passion for food prep. You'll assist with cooking tasks, operate ovens, grills, and fryers, and handle tools like peelers and knives with confidence. A solid understanding of kitchen sanitation and equipment maintenance is a must. If you love working behind the scenes to help create delicious dishes, this could be the role for you!

Requirements

  • Basic kitchen knowledge
  • Understand basic culinary terms
  • Some mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of the use of basic tools to include, but not limited to peelers, assorted knives, ovens, grills, and fryolators
  • Understand basic sanitation skills and be able to sanitize, and store kitchen equipment, and utensils according to proper industry standards, within specified time lines
  • Working knowledge of necessary equipment and to alert their managers or Chef on duty of any equipment failures or needed maintenance immediately
  • Working kitchen knowledge

  • Knowledge of all kitchen tools to include, but not limited to peelers, assorted knives, ovens, grills, fryolators, mixers, food processors, steam controlled equipment, and slicers'
  • Working knowledge of basic sanitation skills and be able to sanitize, and store kitchen equipment, and utensils according to proper industry standards, within specified time lines
  • A minimum of two year’s food service experience required
  • Able to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide
  • Working knowledge of safe proper use and storage of foods and human consumption
  • Strong ability to perform job functions with minimum supervision, and follow information on a daily production schedules and checklists

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cooking tasks
  • Operate ovens, grills, and fryers
  • Handle tools like peelers and knives with confidence
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and equipment maintenance
  • Perform skilled kitchen duties including pantry and salad preparation
  • Proper preparation of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, sous, stocks, and sauces
  • Prepare items as needed to include, but not limited to broiling, sautéing, deep-frying, boiling, steaming, baking, and grilling
  • Alert manager or Chef on duty of any equipment failures or needed maintenance immediately
  • Perform duties in various climates and conditions due to equipment that uses water, steam, chemicals, and heat for safe maintaining of food contact surfaces
  • Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and complete tasks with a “sense of urgency.”
  • Instruct proper methods and procedures while communicating to subordinate employees in a professional manner according to Presque Isle standards
  • Other duties may be assigned
