About The Position

Redding/RHF Housing Inc. provides affordable, very low-income housing for adults who are developmentally disabled. The Cook/Housekeeper is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment within the kitchen and dining areas. This position also includes light housekeeping duties in common areas to ensure a welcoming and safe living environment for residents.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and preparation techniques.
  • Ability to perform basic math for measurements and recipes.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment.
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning supplies and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a cook or housekeeper in a residential, senior living, or healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and resident needs.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner, following menus and recipes as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including food preparation areas, equipment, and storage spaces.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Store and rotate food supplies to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Coordinate with the Community Manager to order groceries and supplies within budget guidelines.
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen, dining areas, and common areas daily.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties in shared spaces, including dusting, vacuuming, and mopping.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Assist in laundry services for residents, as needed.
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to residents, responding to their needs and preferences.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful environment for all residents and staff.
  • Follow safety procedures and report any safety concerns or hazards to the Community Manager immediately.
  • Comply with all state and local health and safety codes and regulations.
  • Assist with special events or functions as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Community Manager.
