About The Position

Redding/RHF Housing Inc. provides affordable, very low-income housing for adults who are developmentally disabled. The Cook/Housekeeper is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for residents and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment within the kitchen and dining areas. This position also includes light housekeeping duties in common areas to ensure a welcoming and safe living environment for residents.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
Knowledge of safe food handling and preparation techniques.
Ability to perform basic math for measurements and recipes.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment.
Ability to safely handle cleaning supplies and equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience as a cook or housekeeper in a residential, senior living, or healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and resident needs.
Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner, following menus and recipes as directed.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including food preparation areas, equipment, and storage spaces.
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Store and rotate food supplies to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
Coordinate with the Community Manager to order groceries and supplies within budget guidelines.
Clean and sanitize the kitchen, dining areas, and common areas daily.
Perform light housekeeping duties in shared spaces, including dusting, vacuuming, and mopping.
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and tools.
Assist in laundry services for residents, as needed.
Provide friendly and courteous service to residents, responding to their needs and preferences.
Maintain a positive and respectful environment for all residents and staff.
Follow safety procedures and report any safety concerns or hazards to the Community Manager immediately.
Comply with all state and local health and safety codes and regulations.
Assist with special events or functions as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Community Manager.
