About The Position

Gemma Services, located on a picturesque 36-acre campus in Plymouth Meeting, promotes safety and nonviolence while cultivating a caring environment in a diverse and inclusive environment. Gemma Services strives to create a community that promotes recovery from trauma for the children and families that we serve. The Food Service Cook prepares and cooks food for the school nutrition program, serving large quantities of meals daily while maintaining strict food safety, sanitation, and USDA meal pattern standards. This position requires experience in high-volume food preparation, knowledge of institutional food service operations, and a commitment to serving nutritious meals to students.

Requirements

• Must have valid driver's license.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Specialized training related to food preparation.
• Current Food Handler Certification, ServSafe Certification, or equivalent food safety certification from an accredited provider.
• Minimum 2 years of documented food preparation experience in a high-volume operation (institutional cafeteria, school kitchen, hospital, military facility, hotel/restaurant kitchen, or similar environment).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in school nutrition or institutional food service.
• Knowledge of USDA meal pattern standards and reimbursable meal requirements.
• Experience with large-quantity cooking and batch preparation.
• Knowledge of food allergies and safe food handling practices.
• Experience with point-of-service meal tracking and production documentation.
• Experience developing or modifying menus for high-volume production.
