About The Position

Transitional Services for New York, Inc. Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • One year's experience in commercial cooking preferred.
  • Must receive a certificate in Food Protection within six months from the date of hire.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Ability to sit or stand as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • May require walking, primarily on a level surface, for short periods throughout the day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist or lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift items up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or direct the preparation of food, adhering to sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Ensure proper use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize waste.
  • Follow daily schedules and report pertinent resident and facility information to the supervisor.
  • Check appliance functionality.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve all meals during the shift.
  • Check inventory and coordinate with the shift supervisor for held meals or off-site meals.
  • Clean appliances, dispose of garbage, and ensure dishes and utensils are pre-washed and washed.
  • Store supplies, dishes, and utensils properly.
  • Adhere to New York State Department of Health Codes.
  • Store foods properly.
  • Inspect kitchen and dining room for safety and sanitation, reporting any issues.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Assume and adhere to assigned Job Action roles during declared disasters as per the Disaster Preparedness Plan.
