About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and skilled individual to join our Food & Nutrition team as a Cook/Cashier at Dexter High School. The ideal candidate will prepare and serve meals to students, provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, and support daily food service operations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to operate kitchen equipment, including ovens, stovets, and cash registers
Ability to use a computer as an operational tool
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong customer service abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to follow school policies and procedures, including dress code and background check requirements
Must have reliable transportation, as travel within the district may be required

Nice To Haves

Prior food service experience preferred

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals according to school guidelines and dietary restrictions
Follow National School Lunch and Breakfast Program regulations
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces
Perform basic arithmetic, maintain accurate transaction records, and balance the cash drawer
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
Follow all safety and sanitation procedures, including proper food handling and storage
Flexibility to work at other buildings as needed
Successfully complete ServeSafe Certification within six months of hire, if required
Complete required professional development and continuing education
Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director or Kitchen Manager
Engage with students in an organized, thoughtful, and positive manner
Address the needs of students and staff in a pleasant and timely fashion
