About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting with the preparation, cooking and serving of nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules. The Cook Assistant ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner, cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances, and maintains an inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner. Key responsibilities include assisting with the cleaning, cooking, and preparation of a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods. The role ensures enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner as scheduled. The Cook Assistant also assists with serving food and beverages in a presentable manner, prepares plates for infants or persons requiring additional assistance, and helps set tables with plates, napkins, and utensils or set up buffet lines for self-service. Additionally, the position involves assisting with cleaning tables, chairs, floors, dishes, utensils, and kitchen appliances.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to cook, taste, and smell food.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience cooking food for large groups, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities
