About The Position

The Cook 2 prepares and serves banquet food according to high-quality standards, procedures, and company specifications. The role requires intermediate culinary skill and may include preparing buffet and plated dishes, producing food through grilling, roasting, and baking, and ensuring the assigned station is ready before service. Candidates are placed into Cook 1, Cook 2, or Cook 3 positions based on experience.

Requirements

At least 4 years of culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
ServSafe or equivalent food-handler certification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
Advanced knife skills.
Basic mathematical skills and understanding of weights and measures to follow recipes.
Familiarity with batch and quantity cooking.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while carrying out delegated tasks and assignments.
Ability to use culinary tools and equipment safely.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds; walk and stand for extended periods; and frequently bend and twist.
Ability to taste and smell.

Nice To Haves

Culinary degree and/or formal training is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Efficiently prepare food items as directed by a supervisor and according to company specifications, with limited management supervision.
Follow safe food-handling procedures and maintain kitchen sanitation in accordance with health department guidelines.
Understand large-scale food production and the time needed to complete tasks.
Learn all menu items produced by the assigned station and have the station ready 15 minutes before service.
Prepare buffet and plated items, including grilling, roasting, and baking fish, steaks, chicken, and shellfish.
Present plates according to company specifications.
Complete assignments in the required quantities and time frames.
Communicate with team members and maintain a positive, professional attitude in stressful situations.
Attend required monthly department meetings and company trainings.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
