IRONMAN World Championship: Cook 1, Full Time, Temporary
About The Position
During the IRONMAN World Championship period of October 1 - October 14, 2026, the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort Courtyard by Marriott is seeking talented Temporary, Full-time Cook 1 to share the aloha spirit and strive to create a memorable guest experience. This role involves preparing, seasoning, cooking, and portioning a variety of hot and cold food items, as well as potentially supervising the cooking of vegetables and desserts. The position may also involve assisting in the supervision and training of other cooks, maintaining a clean work area, and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) - three (3) years of related experience.
- High school or equivalent education.
- TB clearance card required.
- English speaking or bilingual.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and make good judgments.
- Ability to maintain good team member relations.
- Dependable.
- Applicants 18 years of age or older.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, seasons, cooks and portions hot sauces, soups, stocks, broth, stews, braised sauteed and roasted meats, fish and poultry.
- Prepares cold meats and supervises the cooking of vegetables.
- Substitutes or relieves cooks assigned to junior stations as necessary.
- Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to hotel guests.
- Communicates effectively with guests and fellow team members.
- May assist in the supervision and/or training of all other cooks.
- Keeps working area clean and free of obstruction of any kind.
- May prepare and supervise preparation of desserts, pastries, confections and ice cream.
- May create artistic statuaries and ornaments out of sugar, pastry, or ices.
- May cut, trim and prepare meats, fish, or fowl for frying, roasting, broiling and stewing to order of various other cooks.
- Makes individual cuts of meats, fish or fowl to specified size or weight and utilizing every portion.
- Initiates requisitions.
- Converts recipes and standard measures to daily requirements.
- Works under little or no direct supervision.
- Provides assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
- Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
