About The Position

The Cook 1 is responsible for meeting standards for basic food preparation and cooking in the Players Lounge. The role prepares, seasons, finishes, and garnishes food; follows recipes, specifications, and control procedures; and performs food handling tasks including receiving, thawing, storing, proportioning, heating, holding, and re-thermalizing food items. The cook maintains clean and sanitary workstations and storage areas, handles and rotates food products appropriately, and assists with guest requests and stocking dishes when needed. The position also supports a fun atmosphere for casino guests and promotes mutual respect, dignity, and integrity among employees.

Requirements

• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must hold a Level 4 Gaming License.
• Must successfully complete screening for essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, season, finish, and garnish food.
• Maintain refrigeration and dry-storage areas, ensuring proper handling and rotation of products.
• Keep the culinary workstation clean and ensure food items are covered and stored at the end of the shift.
• Follow recipes, specifications, and control procedures.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with health regulations.
• Assist with guest requests when needed.
• Help stock dishes when needed.
• Assist with storage and proper rotation of food products.
• Use dry and liquid measures and scales.
• Stir and strain soups and sauces.
• Perform proper receiving, thawing, storage, proportioning, preparation-area sanitation, heating, holding, and re-thermalization of food, including sauces, soups, salad bar items, lunch, dinner, and produce.
• Promote a fun atmosphere for casino guests.
• Encourage mutual respect, dignity, and integrity among employees by setting positive examples.
