About The Position

We are a stealth-stage fund and tech startup operating at the intersection of alternative markets and quantitative strategy. Backed by experienced operators and growing quickly, we are building the infrastructure to scale a high-performance, data-driven business. The founder is currently the machine, and this role is to build the machine that runs the business at ten times the current volume. Every department in this company reports to the founder today. As COO, you will own the internal engine end to end: how work enters the business, how it moves through delivery, and whether it comes out the other side at the quality we promised. The founder will transition to focus on strategy, capital, and external growth, while you will manage all other aspects. This is not a caretaker role; several departments lack documented processes, metrics, or even managers. You will be responsible for establishing these foundational elements while maintaining current operational volume.

Requirements

  • Experience scaling a delivery organization from tens to hundreds of people, with the ability to articulate challenges encountered during scaling.
  • Experience owning a P&L or operating closely enough to be accountable for unit economics.
  • Systems thinking ability to identify and address business constraints.
  • Preference for process and automation over headcount.
  • Strong, direct writing skills for clear communication of decisions.
  • Ability to set and maintain a high bar for performance and hire individuals who meet it.
  • Emotional intelligence to restructure departments without losing key personnel.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, unglamorous work, and a business that is still defining itself.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-volume logistics, gig-economy platform operations, fintech or KYC onboarding, or manufacturing throughput.
  • Experience with multi-state or cross-border operations.
  • Experience running a formal operating system (e.g., EOS) with a pragmatic approach.
  • A background in strategy and operations consulting combined with line experience.
  • Interest in startups, investing, alternative markets, or behavioral strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Take the operating load and become the central point of contact for the company, relieving the founder from being the escalation point for eight departments.
  • Own throughput and quality, aiming to multiply the number of people processed through the delivery pipeline weekly without increasing the failure rate.
  • Build the operating cadence, including a weekly meeting structure with accountability, quarterly goals with named owners, and a company scorecard of eight to twelve key metrics.
  • Write the operating manual by mapping and documenting core processes to reduce the time it takes for new hires to become productive.
  • Make quality measurable by implementing systems to log mistakes across delivery, support, and review, and utilize this data for improvement.
  • Consolidate tooling to provide real-time visibility of the entire business in a single, trusted platform.
  • Hire and retain high-quality operators, recognizing that the quality of your team is a ceiling on overall success.
  • Support two geographic expansions currently in flight, addressing operational blockers.

Benefits

  • A genuine number two seat with real authority.
  • Competitive cash compensation.
  • Direct partnership with the founder, with no layers of management.
  • Opportunity to build the operating system of a company from the ground up.
  • Flexible location and hours.
