About The Position

Based in Lenexa, KS, the Conveyor Technician Level III will be working on state-of-the-art conveyor systems in Turn5's largest distribution center. This technician reports to the Facilities Manager and maintains and troubleshoots systems within our fulfillment center with a heavy focus on conveyors. The role requires advanced skills in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing hydraulic and mechanical systems, with a strong focus on electrical systems, PLCs, and sortation controls to keep production running at peak performance. This technician responds to critical and emergency issues, prioritizes multiple projects, and makes independent decisions based on facility needs.

Requirements

  • Industrial mechanic trade school courses or certificate (i.e., electrical, controls, plumbing, welding, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience with and working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including conveyor and related systems in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience with conveyors and related production equipment and systems (i.e., Rapid Route, Flex Sort, Crown, Raymond)
  • Ability to operate power equipment e.g. Reach truck, electric pallet jack, order pickers, etc.
  • Advanced mastery of PLC and sortation control systems
  • Good working knowledge of building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and OSHA regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communications and computer skills
  • Ability to follow blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering specifications
  • Possess strong prioritization and organizational skills and be able to make decisions independently

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain MDR (Motor Driven Roller) conveyor systems
  • Diagnose and resolve DC electrical issues (24V systems, power supplies, sensors)
  • Perform preventive maintenance on conveyor and automation
  • Troubleshoot photo eyes, sensors, and control devices
  • Assist with PLC-based troubleshooting (I/O level, not programming heavy)
  • Work with pneumatic components (valves, cylinders, air lines)
  • Respond quickly to system downtime and prioritize repairs
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation
  • Train new employees and mentor junior technicians
